Bexhill College's latest Ofsted report was published in November2015. The Sixth Form College was inspected in October 2015 under the new 2015 inspection regime. It was the first College in the South East to be inspected under the new two-day inspection process for 'good' post-16 colleges.
Inspectors looked at all aspects of the College's provision during the inspection and highlighted how the College has 'successfully placed students and local communities at the heart of its work'.
The report confirmed that students continue to receive good quality education and training at the College. Outcomes for learners remain good overall and when students join the College, they are quickly helped to improve and achieve. It also highlighted that many students travel long distances to attend the College due to its high reputation.
They noted that students study on a 'vibrant and well-resourced single campus' where the College has successfully provided students with excellent accommodation, facilities and resources to support teaching and learning.
Inspectors found that students benefit from good teaching, learning and assessment. There is highly effective use of Information Learning Technologies in lessons, which has been well resourced across the College. They confirmed the 'increasing proportion of good or better lessons which helped to improve students' progress and outcomes.' Besides the high quality teaching in lessons, the report highlights highly effective tutorial support which supports students' understanding of their progress and their next steps.
Principal Karen Hucker said: "We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the inspection. This reflects the hard work and dedication of the staff to ensure our students achieve the best grades possible whilst with us. We are pleased that Ofsted have recognised the positive work we do along with our drive to continually improve."
This inspection outcome confirms Bexhill College as the leading post-16 provider in the Rother, Hastings and Eastbourne area. The College is now recruiting for September 2016 as well as level 2 and level 3 programmes starting in January 2016. These programmes run from Monday 18th January until Friday 8th July.
